Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 shatters pre‑order record, faces delivery delays

Samsung reported that its latest foldable lineup – the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 – amassed 1.44 million pre‑orders in South Korea, overtaking the previous record of 1.38 million set by the Galaxy Note 10 series. The new total was achieved in six days, compared with the Note 10’s eleven‑day window, and about 70 % of the orders were for the standard Fold8 model.

In India the trio recorded 271 000 orders within three days, underscoring strong global demand. The surge outpaced Samsung’s production capacity, prompting the company to extend the pre‑activation period for the Korean market to 31 August and to display stock‑shortage warnings on its online store. Several models now have delivery dates pushed into October in multiple regions.

The record‑breaking pre‑order performance marks the first time Samsung’s foldables have surpassed the pre‑order volumes of its flagship Galaxy S series, signalling a significant shift in consumer preference toward the foldable form factor.
