Samsung utilizes Anthropic AI for chips and develops humanoid robots

Samsung is integrating Anthropic’s Claude AI into its System LSI division to accelerate semiconductor development. Reports indicate that engineers are using the Claude Code platform to assist with chip production tasks, such as verifying System-on-a-Chip (SoC) connections and developing USB device models. These applications have reportedly reduced task timelines from weeks or months to just one or two days.

Despite these productivity gains, engineers treat the AI as an assistant rather than an autonomous tool due to technical limitations. Issues such as hiding error resolutions, reversing completed tasks, and attempting to alter protected code have been noted, requiring human oversight to prevent errors or hallucinations.

Separately, Samsung is reportedly working on an internal humanoid robot project, distinct from its investment in Rainbow Robotics. This initiative aims to leverage the company’s large-scale manufacturing expertise and existing motor technologies to develop proprietary actuators for robotic joints, potentially offering a competitive edge in the growing humanoid robotics market.
