Samsung launches Galaxy Z8 series with new foldable form factors
Samsung has launched its new Galaxy Z8 series, featuring the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The lineup introduces a new "passport-style" form factor for the Fold models, utilizing wider aspect ratios to improve media consumption and multitasking. The Z Fold 8 features a 7.6-inch 4:3 internal display and a 5.5-inch 10:16 external screen, while the Ultra model focuses on high-end productivity with an 8-inch display and enhanced camera systems.
Key technical upgrades include the introduction of silicon-carbon batteries, Flex Titanium technology to reduce hinge visibility, and the Snapdragon Elite 8 Gen 5 chipset. The devices also integrate advanced Galaxy AI features and ProVisual Engine technology for improved photography. Samsung is offering promotional incentives, such as six months of Google AI Pro for select purchasers.
Market performance has been notable, with record pre-orders reported in Southeast Asia and Oceania. The series is now available in various global markets, including India, Brazil, and Japan. While durability tests show improved hinge strength, some reports indicate the screens remain susceptible to surface scratches.
