Süper Lig opening week sees 13 club referrals and high-scoring matches
The opening week of the Trendyol Süper Lig has concluded with significant disciplinary actions and high-scoring matches. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has referred 13 clubs to the Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK) for various violations, including “ugly and bad chanting,” “field incidents,” and “improper spectator admission.” Notable referrals include Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor. Fenerbahçe General Secretary Mahmut Uslu was also referred for statements deemed to “undermine the reputation of football.”
On the pitch, the week's closing match between Samsunspor and Göztepe ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw. Göztepe took an early lead through Alex Matos, but Samsunspor responded with goals from Mouandilmadji and Emre Kılınç. After Göztepe regained the lead via Sinclair Armstrong and Efkan Bekiroğlu, Celil Yüksel scored in the 90th minute to secure a point for Samsunspor. Samsunspor coach Thorsten Fink described the result as a “deserved draw” despite the team's errors.
