Samuel Adrián detained in Colombia over documentary dispute

Mexican documentary producer Samuel Adrián was detained in Bogotá, Colombia, following a judicial order for contempt of court. The arrest stems from a legal dispute regarding his documentary, ‘Colombia: fábrica de niños trans’, which examines gender transition interventions in minors.

A judge in Cali ordered the detention and a fine of approximately $5,600 after determining that Adrián failed to sufficiently comply with a court order to censor specific segments of the film. The segments in question involve Mario Angulo Mosquera, a former pediatric endocrinologist at Fundación Valle del Lili.

Angulo Mosquera alleges he was a victim of deceptive practices, claiming Adrián recorded him without consent by posing as a relative of a patient. Angulo states his responses were taken out of context to damage his professional reputation.

In response to the detention, the organization Abogados Cristianos has petitioned the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) for Adrián’s immediate release, citing violations of his rights to freedom of thought and expression.
