Samuel Akere linked to transfer from Widzew Łódź to Maccabi Haifa

Samuel Akere, a Nigerian winger playing for Widzew Łódź, is a potential transfer target for the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa. The interest follows a serious knee injury to Maccabi Haifa player Manuel Benson, which has left the Israeli side in need of offensive reinforcements.

Akere has struggled to secure a regular starting position at Widzew Łódź following the club's recent acquisitions of wingers Stipe Biuk and Darian Maleš. During the first five rounds of the Ekstraklasa season, Akere played a total of only 19 minutes. He previously spent a period on loan at NK Osijek in Croatia, where he performed well, but Widzew did not exercise an option to purchase him permanently.

Widzew Łódź acquired Akere from Botev Plovdiv in the summer of 2025 for an estimated fee between 700,000 and 800,000 euros. His current contract is set to run until June 2029. While no official offer or formal negotiations have been confirmed, Maccabi Haifa is reportedly considering several candidates to bolster their squad.
