Samuel Eto’o defends Fécafoot leadership following football successes
Samuel Eto’o Fils, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), has responded to critics following recent successes for the national women’s team, the Lionnes Indomptables.
In a social media statement, Eto’o addressed an unnamed “intellectual”—widely believed to be academic Mathias Éric Owona Nguini—who had previously predicted that Cameroon would not achieve significant footballing success under his leadership. Eto’o declined to engage in a direct debate, stating that he and his critic do not operate at the same “level of responsibility.”
Eto’o also criticized individuals he described as having “untraceable fortunes” and lacking professional track records, accusing them of attempting to undermine the hopes of the youth to protect their own interests. He emphasized his commitment to building and serving the country, asserting that “Cameroon is greater than us all.”
