Samuel Koch to headline Hospiztage in Saarpfalz-Kreis

The 12th Hospiztage in the Saarpfalz-Kreis will take place from September 6 to October 2, 2026. Organized by the Ecumenical Ambulatory Hospice and Palliative Care Service Saarpfalz in collaboration with several partners, the event series focuses on themes of life, death, grief, and hope.

The opening event will be held on Sunday, September 6, at the Saalbau cultural center in Homburg. The program features a keynote lecture by actor and author Samuel Koch, titled ‘Das Leben geht weiter, als man denkt’ (Life goes on more than one thinks). Koch, who has been wheelchair-bound since a serious injury in 2010, will discuss discovering quality of life and new perspectives even under the most difficult circumstances.

District Administrator Frank John and Diocesan Caritas Director Barbara Aßmann will welcome guests. The event aims to provide insight into hospice work, offer information on regional support services, and create space for community exchange regarding end-of-life care and grief support.
