Samuel Ortom accuses Hyacinth Alia of cancelling entitlements
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has accused his successor, Governor Hyacinth Alia, of cancelling his legal entitlements. In an interview with Channels Television, Ortom stated that the current administration has denied him benefits established by a law enacted by the Benue State House of Assembly.
According to Ortom, these entitlements included the provision of a house in Abuja or another location of his choice, as well as annual medical check-ups at a hospital of his choosing, either within Nigeria or abroad, with costs covered by the state government. Ortom noted that he has resided in his Games Village house in Abuja since 2008, when he served as the national auditor for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ortom also addressed his compensation, stating that his monthly salary was less than ₦600,000, which he claimed was consistent with what other governors earn.
