Samuel Sey detained by ICE in Ohio

Samuel Sey, a 39-year-old Ghanaian-born conservative Christian blogger and influencer, is being held in an Ohio jail on an immigration detainer. Sey was booked into the Butler County Jail, north of Cincinnati, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

According to jail records, Sey is being held for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with no criminal charges listed against him. He previously moved to the United States in 2022 to marry a resident of Ohio, noting at the time that he did not hold permanent residency or work authorization.

Sey is known for his commentary for various conservative and evangelical outlets, including The Daily Wire, The Blaze, and Turning Point USA. He has frequently argued that the deportation of undocumented immigrants is a requirement of Christian ethics and justice.
