Samuel Sánchez named ambassador for Tour of Armenia
Olympic gold medalist Samuel Sánchez has been named the ambassador for the inaugural Tour of Armenia. The event is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 13, 2026.
Classified as a category 2.2 race, the Tour of Armenia is part of the UCI Europe Tour calendar. The competition will consist of four stages covering a total distance of 587 km with 5,300 meters of elevation gain.
Sánchez, a former professional cyclist with a career spanning eighteen years, brings significant prestige to the new race. His career highlights include winning the Olympic road race in Beijing in 2008, securing three Grand Tour podiums, and winning the polka dot jersey in the Tour de France in 2011.
