Samurai Pizza Cats game demo to debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026

A playable demo for the upcoming video game ‘Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past!’ will make its world debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21.

Developed by the Dutch studio Blast Zero and distributed globally by the UAE-based Red Dunes Games, the title is based on the classic 1990s anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. The demo will focus on 2D side-scrolling action and platforming mechanics, allowing players to switch between three characters: Yattarou, Sukashii, and Pururun.

The game features entirely new animation sequences designed to replicate the original 90s cel-shaded aesthetic. The Japanese script is being handled by Satoru Akahori, the original series writer, with a voice cast including Kappei Yamaguchi and Koichi Yamadera. While the demo is limited to action and combat, the full release is expected to include RPG elements such as character leveling and exploration.
