San Alfonso María de Ligorio’s guidance on conscience and family catechesis

San Alfonso María de Ligorio, a Doctor of the Church and 18th‑century saint, devoted his life to teaching that God’s mercy invites continual conversion. His catechesis emphasizes the importance of the sacraments—especially the Eucharist—and a Marian devotion as pathways to a joyful Christian life.

He also addressed the formation of a well‑balanced conscience, warning against both indifference and scrupulosity. According to his teachings, a healthy conscience discerns good from evil without becoming a source of constant anxiety, helping believers maintain peace while striving for moral integrity.
