San Andrés business groups demand urgent airport improvements

Economic, tourism, and civil society organizations in San Andrés have issued an urgent request to Colombian national authorities for the comprehensive improvement of the Gustavo Rojas Pinilla Airport. The group, which includes the Chamber of Commerce of San Andrés and Providencia, Anato, Cotelco, Acodres, Proarchipiélago, and the ‘Cómo Vamos San Andrés’ civic movement, addressed the letter to the Minister of Transport and the Director General of the Aeronáutica Civil.

Participants of the San Andrés International Book Fair (FILSAI) recently highlighted the severe ‘bottleneck’ at the airport, which serves as the primary gateway for both domestic and international visitors. The organizations noted that the infrastructure issues have been a postponed problem for over 12 years, spanning three previous national governments, and are critical to the strategic importance and tourism economy of the archipelago.
