Mexican municipalities launch economic and social welfare initiatives

Municipal governments in Mexico are implementing various social and economic initiatives. In San Andrés Cholula, Mayor Lupita Cuautle has established a permanent dialogue with the business sector, including representatives from the OECD and various chambers like CANACINTRA and COPARMEX, to foster investment and employment. Additionally, the municipality is distributing food aid through the “Con Rumbo a una Mejor Nutrición” program, aiming to reach nearly 4,000 families.

In Puebla, Mayor Pepe Chedraui and the Secretariat of Welfare and Citizen Participation have signed a collaboration agreement with BBVA. This partnership focuses on the “Prosperidad Compartida” policy, providing training and financial inclusion workshops to support female entrepreneurs and their economic autonomy.

In Ecatepec, Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss launched the “Regreso a Clases 2026” program. This initiative includes providing 400 pesos per student for school footwear to over 50,000 beneficiaries, offering free hearing aids, and hosting health and school supply fairs to reduce the economic burden on families during the new school year.
