San Andrés Tuxtla implements tourism training for police and service providers

Authorities in Mexico are implementing training programs to improve the quality of service and safety provided to tourists. In San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz, municipal police, civil protection officers, and local service providers—including artisans and traditional cooks—completed a proximity tourism police course. The initiative, supported by the municipal government and the State Tourism Police of Puebla, aims to professionalize local services ahead of major events like the 2026 International Paper Balloon Festival.

Additionally, training sessions titled ‘Ethics and Dignified Treatment of the Tourist’ have been conducted by specialized instructors. These programs utilize experiential dynamics to help law enforcement officers understand the traveler's perspective, emphasizing that police officers serve as the primary face of a city. The goal is to ensure visitors receive ethical treatment, proper guidance, and a sense of security during their travels.
