San Antonio: 15-year-old boxer dies after returning home

A 15-year-old boxer, identified by San Antonio police as Jesse Balderrama, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after returning home following a period of disappearance. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 20, at a residence on Marchmont Lane in San Antonio, Texas.

During the incident, the teenager's 38-year-old stepfather was critically injured while attempting to disarm the youth. Authorities reported that the stepfather was hospitalized in serious condition after being struck during the struggle.

Police responded to the scene around 5:00 PM following reports of gunfire. While several people, including another child, were present in the home at the time, they were in different rooms and were not directly involved in the shooting. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office is working to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
