San Antonio collegiate athletics begin 2026 season

Trinity Tigers women's soccer collegiate athletics season opener San Antonio sports

Various collegiate athletic programs in San Antonio have commenced their 2026 seasons. The Trinity University women's soccer team opened with a 7-0 victory over Texas A&M-San Antonio. Malea Cesar contributed two penalty kicks during the match, while Lilly Fant, Olivia Wagner, and Finley Hoover also scored.

Trinity's men's soccer team, ranked No. 2, and the women's volleyball team, ranked No. 2, are also preparing for their respective campaigns following successful 2025 seasons. The men's soccer program enters the year after reaching the NCAA national championship game.

In cross country, UTSA's men and women competed in the Sam Musgrave UIW Twilight season opener. Junior Andruw Villa placed second in the men's 6k with a time of 18:17.47, helping the UTSA men to a third-place team finish. The women's team finished fourth in their 4k event.
