San Antonio confirms avian influenza in bird; stolen horse recovered in Amealco

In San Antonio, Chile, authorities have activated protocols following the confirmation of avian influenza in a chimango caracara (Milvago chimango). The bird was discovered near the Municipal Building exhibiting erratic movements. The Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) removed the specimen for analysis, which subsequently confirmed the presence of the virus. Local environmental officials have advised the community to avoid handling birds displaying abnormal behavior and to report such sightings to authorities.

In Amealco de Bonfil, Mexico, municipal security forces recovered a horse found abandoned inside a cage along a state highway. Following an investigation and coordination with authorities in the State of Mexico, officials confirmed the animal matched the description of a horse reported stolen in the municipality of Acambay.
