San Antonio neighbor charged with capital murder after shooting two brothers
A 40-year-old man, Daniel Antonio Perez, faces capital murder charges following a shooting that killed two brothers in San Antonio, Texas. The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Drayvn Quiroz and 11-year-old Maliki Perales.
The incident occurred on August 4 while the brothers were maneuvering a vehicle into their driveway. According to authorities, Perez crossed the street and opened fire on the victims without provocation. The father of the victims, Andrew Perales, reported hearing gunshots while on a phone call and witnessing the suspect reloading his weapon across the street.
Maliki Perales died that evening after sustaining gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Drayvn Quiroz passed away approximately 12 hours later. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar described the attack as unprovoked and noted that there was no prior history of dispute between the neighbors. Perez was arrested shortly after the shooting and faces the possibility of the death penalty under Texas law.
