Chilean authorities investigate two separate violent assaults

Authorities in Chile are investigating two separate incidents of violent aggression that have gained significant public attention.

In San Antonio, the PDI (Policía de Investigaciones) arrested a 35-year-old Chilean man accused of brutally attacking a woman with a disability who was experiencing homelessness. The assault, which occurred near the local bus terminal, was captured on video and showed the suspect using a heavy object and kicking the victim. The woman was hospitalized with serious injuries.

In Las Condes, a public official from the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is under investigation following a xenophobic attack on a Peruvian cashier at an Oxxo store. The individual, identified as Osvaldo Peña Pizarro, reportedly insulted the worker with derogatory comments regarding her nationality, threw objects at her, and spat on her. Oxxo Chile has formally rejected the acts of xenophobia, and the Dirección de Vialidad has ordered an administrative inquiry into the official's conduct.
