UMAPS manager Gustavo Boquín to resign in Honduras

Gustavo Boquín has submitted his resignation as the general manager of the Municipal Unit of Drinking Water and Sanitation (UMAPS) in Honduras. Boquín will remain in his position until September 30 to facilitate an institutional transition period.

The resignation follows questioning from the Central District Municipal Council (AMDC) and members of the UMAPS Board of Directors. Reports indicated that councilors had requested his departure due to management concerns and alleged conflicts of interest.

While the UMAPS institution clarified that the departure does not stem from an expulsion or conflict with Mayor Juan Diego Zelaya, Boquín confirmed he is stepping down following a period of administrative scrutiny. A new manager is expected to take over the leadership of the water and sanitation services for Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela in September.
