San Antonio Spurs core targets future success after NBA Finals loss

The San Antonio Spurs reached the 2026 NBA Finals following a season where they eliminated the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite their run, the Spurs ultimately lost the championship series to the New York Knicks.

Young core players Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper are being viewed as the foundation for the franchise’s future competitiveness. Following the loss, Harper expressed a determination to return to the Finals, stating, “Now we have to do it.”

Castle and Harper, who joined the team as high draft picks, have transitioned into significant roles within the roster. Analysts have noted the high potential of this trio, suggesting their collective growth could lead to long-term championship contention.
