San Benedetto del Tronto: Oil barrel seized following marine pollution report

Authorities in San Benedetto del Tronto have launched an investigation following the discovery of a barrel surrounded by a dark stain, suspected to be motor oil, in the waters near a local beach concession.

Upon receiving an emergency report from a lifeguard, the Coast Guard deployed a patrol and a motorboat to the site. The Fire Department's NBCR (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, and Radiological) unit and technicians from Arpam were called to collect samples to determine the exact nature of the spilled liquid.

The barrel was removed from the water to prevent further leakage, and the affected beach area has been cordoned off pending cleanup operations by Picena Ambiente. Following orders from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ascoli, the Coast Guard has placed the barrel under criminal seizure. Investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the container and determine legal responsibility.
