San Benigno truck driver causes multiple collisions in hit-and-run

A truck driver caused a series of collisions across the lower Canavese region, starting in San Benigno and ending in a cornfield in San Giusto. The incident began when the driver of a semi-trailer, traveling from Volpiano, struck a parked car in via San Rocco and damaged advertising signs at a supermarket parking lot without stopping.

The vehicle continued toward Foglizzo and San Giusto, where it collided with another vehicle and a camper before veering off the road into a field. The driver, a middle-aged Italian man, was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.

Local police, assisted by officers from Chivasso, used surveillance footage to identify the driver. The individual faces administrative sanctions and must provide compensation for the damages to vehicles and signage. Authorities are currently investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.
