San Benito drug investigation leads to house arrest for suspect

A 23-year-old woman, Giuliana Briozzo, has been placed under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor following the discovery of a synthetic drug processing site in San Benito, Argentina. The judicial decision by Guarantee Judge Jorge Sueldo took into account that Briozzo has an infant in the breastfeeding stage.

The investigation, which initially focused on check fraud, led authorities to a property where substances were being diluted, prepared, and packaged for sale. Police seized 287 containers of ketamine, over 800 empty jars, containers with dimethoxymethamphetamine (DOM or STP), two grams of cocaine, and various processing tools including a vacuum sealer. Authorities also recovered 700,000 pesos, 2,600 dollars, and labels from a Paraguayan laboratory used to make the products appear industrial.

Prosecutor Santiago Alfieri reported that during the raid, Briozzo attempted to discard cash and an iPhone by throwing them onto a neighbor's roof. Briozzo's two young children, aged one and three, have been placed under the intervention of the Provincial Council for Children, Adolescents, and Families (Copnaf).
