San Bernardino County Driver Killed in Pomona After High-Speed Pursuit

A high‑speed pursuit that began in Victorville on July 29, 2026, ended in a fatal crash in Pomona, California. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a blue 2025 Nissan Sentra for a vehicle‑code violation, but the driver, a man in his 30s, fled. The chase continued on surface streets and then onto Interstate 15, after which the California Highway Patrol took over.

The pursuit concluded near Towne and Bonita avenues in Pomona when the Nissan slammed into a palm tree outside an apartment complex. The vehicle was severely damaged, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are continuing the investigation into what prompted the driver to evade law enforcement.
