San Bernardino rescuers save two women and four dogs from rising river

San Bernardino County Fire crews conducted a swiftwater rescue on the Santa Ana River after rapidly rising floodwaters turned a homeless encampment into an island. The incident occurred around 11:58 a.m. near E Street in San Bernardino.

Rescuers used an inflatable boat to reach two women and their four dogs who were stranded by the surging river. To ensure safety during the transit, the women were fitted with life jackets. Because the small dogs were highly agitated, rescue teams secured them in a mesh bag to safely transport them to the shore. No injuries were reported for the women or the animals.
