San Bernardino teenagers turned in by parents after hot tub assault

Two 13-year-old boys are in custody in San Bernardino, California, after their parents turned them in to police for an assault and robbery. The incident occurred on August 14 at an apartment complex hot tub, where the teenagers approached Gregory Medina from behind. One boy kicked Medina in the head, causing a concussion and knocking off his glasses and earbuds, while the second boy stole his cell phone.

The teenagers reportedly admitted to carrying out the attack to create content for a TikTok video. Following the incident, the boys' parents contacted Medina to apologize and subsequently brought their sons to the San Bernardino police station on August 21. Both boys face felony robbery charges, and the individual who kicked Medina also faces an assault charge.

Medina, a chef, expressed forgiveness for the teenagers and gratitude toward their parents for holding them accountable. He noted that while the attack resulted in a concussion that has prevented him from returning to work, he understands the difficulty their parents faced in turning them over to authorities.
