San Buenaventura fair drives tourism surge in Coahuila

The annual Feria de San Buenaventura in the central region of Coahuila has recorded a historic influx of visitors, filling almost all hotel rooms in Monclova and nearby municipalities. Local officials said the surge has generated a multi‑million‑peso economic spill‑over, benefiting hotels, restaurants, retailers and transport firms.

Mayor Javier Flores Rodríguez noted that families from neighboring towns and from the United States are returning for the event, and quoted the mayor: “Prácticamente cada año muchas personas reservan para venir a disfrutar de la feria, y eso representa una derrama económica muy importante para los negocios de San Buenaventura”. The hotel sector’s association director, Armando de la Garza Gaytán, confirmed near‑full occupancy and projected 80‑90 % reservation levels for the upcoming weekend, underscoring the fair’s role as a key driver of regional tourism and commerce.
