San Cayetano novena kicks off in Concordia and Sáenz Peña, Argentina
Parishes in the Argentine towns of Concordia (Entre Ríos) and Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña (Chaco) have begun the annual nine‑day novena honoring San Cayetano, the patron saint of bread and work. In Concordia, the novena started on 29 July with daily Masses at various local chapels and will conclude with a procession on 1 August, each day focusing on different labor groups such as housewives, public employees and police forces.
In Sáenz Peña, the novena runs through nine days of prayer, adoration and Eucharistic celebrations, culminating in a major patronal festival on 7 August. The event features five Masses, a traditional street procession in the Lamadrid neighbourhood, and a central Mass presided over by Bishop Hugo Nicolás Barbaro. Both celebrations aim to strengthen community faith, support workers facing hardship, and continue a longstanding regional tradition.
