Cuenca agricultural fairs open with increased funding for rabbit control

Several agricultural and environmental fairs are currently underway in the province of Cuenca, Spain. The 32nd edition of Naturama, a nature, hunting, fishing, and environment fair, has opened at the La Hípica fairgrounds. Featuring 53 exhibitors, this year’s event includes musical performances and focuses on the importance of hunting and fishing sectors. During the inauguration, the Diputación de Cuenca announced it will increase its budget to one million euros in 2027 to combat agricultural damage caused by rabbit overpopulation, doubling the previous 500,000 euro allocation.

Additionally, the 22nd Agricultural and Livestock Fair of San Clemente (FERAGA) is being held at the municipal sports pavilion. Supported by a 25,000 euro contribution from the Diputación de Cuenca, the event features over 40 exhibitors and focuses on local products such as Manchego cheese, wine, oil, and honey. The fair includes technical demonstrations, including tractor skill competitions and morphological contests for Manchega sheep.

In Toledo, regional government officials recognized the work of veterinary professionals during a traditional gathering in Torrijos, highlighting their role in public health, animal sanitation, and food security.
