San Cosmo Albanese begins celebrations for Saints Cosma and Damiano

Religious celebrations are underway in San Cosmo Albanese to honor the patron saints Cosma and Damiano, known as the Santi Medici. The festivities include a series of Eucharistic celebrations and a traditional Novena held every afternoon until September 26.

The event is a significant moment of popular devotion for the Arbëreshë community and neighboring areas. A notable tradition involves a pilgrimage on foot during the night between September 25 and 26, where many faithful, particularly from Spezzano Albanese, walk to the Sanctuary to arrive at dawn.
