San Costantino Calabro hosts second edition of Lumera photography festival

The second edition of Lumera, a cultural manifestation promoting contemporary photography, will take place in San Costantino Calabro from September 4 to 28. Organized by the Pro Loco of San Costantino Calabro, the event will transform the historic Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesù into a dedicated exhibition space and turn the alleys of the ancient u Rinusu district into a widespread museum.

Five artists will present personal exhibitions across four weekends in September: Maria Pia Russo (September 4–7), Rosy Suppa (September 11–14), Andrea Torcasio (September 18–21), and the duo Esmeralda Bartolotta and Marika Brogna (September 25–28).

The event commemorates the 200th anniversary of the first historical photograph, ‘View from the Window at Le Gras’, created by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1826. The initiative aims to provide emerging local artists with a platform to showcase their work and personal artistic journeys, exploring the relationship between humanity, nature, and territory.
