Haina foundation raid rescues 14 minors from alleged abuse and labor exploitation

Authorities in Haina, San Cristóbal, rescued 14 minors, aged between three months and 13 years, during raids on properties linked to the ‘Restaurando Vida, Un Muerto que Revive’ foundation. The investigation was initiated after a 12-year-old boy escaped the facility and sought assistance at a police station in Hatillo.

Prosecutors are investigating the case for potential child abuse, forced labor, and human trafficking. Forensic examinations of the escaping minor revealed multiple scars and second-degree burns on both hands. The Public Ministry has requested preventive detention for Ángel Gabriel Capellán, known as ‘El Pastor,’ and Isaías Ramón Muñoz Rodríguez, who are accused of physical and psychological abuse and exploitation.

Approximately 20 individuals have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation. The rescued children have been placed in protective care at a shelter while authorities work to determine the circumstances of their presence at the foundation and establish legal responsibilities.
