San Cristóbal child shot, two-year-old in critical condition

A two‑year‑old boy was shot in the head in a residence in the Nigua community of San Cristóbal province, Dominican Republic. He was taken to Hospital Regional Docente Juan Pablo Pina, where he remains in a critical state and may require surgery.

Police National spokesperson Diego Pesqueira said the incident is under investigation by the police and the Ministry of Public. Authorities have interviewed several people connected to the home, including a first lieutenant of the police and his son, but the exact circumstances of the shooting are still unclear and multiple versions exist. The investigation continues to determine responsibility.
