San Cristóbal de La Laguna approves new beach and pool regulations
The municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna has officially approved a new regulatory ordinance for the use, enjoyment, conservation, and management of its public beaches and swimming pools. Published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the regulation aims to enhance environmental protection of the coastline and ensure universal accessibility.
Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez stated that the document is intended to improve management of these highly visited areas, seeking a balance between public enjoyment, marine preservation, and citizen coexistence. Councilor Ángel Chinea noted that the ordinance establishes clear rules for activities and public domain occupation, including a specific sanctioning regime for damages caused to these landscapes.
The new measures also focus on inclusion, accessibility, and improvements to surveillance, rescue, and lifeguard services, which have recently been updated through a new contract involving increased material and personnel resources.
