San Cristóbal de las Casas designer's home seized over debt
Ministerial authorities in San Cristóbal de las Casas have seized the home of Tzotzil designer Alberto following a legal dispute involving a debt of 572,800 pesos.
The debt is owed to 14 female artisans from the municipality of Aldama, who provided various handcrafted items including huipiles, scarves, shawls, capes, and blouses on commission. The women have stated that the legal action is a necessary step toward justice, noting that they have faced long-term deception regarding the payments. In addition to the principal amount, the artisans intend to seek an additional two percent to cover travel expenses incurred during the legal process.
