San Cristóbal explosion: Rights groups demand deeper investigation

Human rights organizations, including the CNDH-RD and the Commission of Truth, are demanding deeper investigations into the August 14, 2023, explosion at the former market on Padre Ayala Street in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic.

On the third anniversary of the tragedy, these groups have submitted new documents to the San Cristóbal Fiscal Office. They are requesting interviews with victims and families, as well as a review of how debris was handled and the technical reports issued by the Fire Department. The explosion resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage to the local commercial center.
