San Damiano Macra seeks regional update on Reboissino reservoir project

Francesco Cioffi, president of the Union Montana Valle Maira and mayor of Cartignano, sent a letter to Regional President Alberto Cirio asking for an update on the small‑scale reservoir proposal in Reboissino, a locality within the municipality of San Damiano Macra, Cuneo province. The request, originally made in March 2024, was reiterated and also copied to Senator Giorgio Maria Bergesio and regional assessor Marco Gallo.

The project envisions a multi‑purpose water facility for drinking, irrigation, industrial, hydro‑electric and environmental uses, aiming to mitigate the severe water shortage that has affected the valley in recent years. Local officials stress that any intervention must gain territorial consent and reflect a balance between the needs of the plains and the mountains. The letter attached relevant council deliberations from both the Union Montana and the provincial council, underscoring the local authorities’ continued push for inclusion of the Reboissino reservoir in the Regional Strategic Plan.
