San Diego County proclaims CETYS Day to honor Mexican university
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed September 20, 2026, as ‘CETYS Day in San Diego County’. This marks the first time a Mexican university has received such a proclamation from the county.
The recognition coincides with the 65th anniversary of CETYS Universidad, which operates campuses in Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada. The initiative was led by County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre to honor the institution’s role in strengthening educational and binational ties between Baja California and the San Diego region.
During the ceremony, CETYS Universidad Rector Fernando León García emphasized that the proclamation highlights the impact of the institution beyond physical borders. He noted that the recognition from a U.S. entity serves as a testament to the university’s long-standing commitment to regional collaboration and service.
