San Diego fishermen land record-breaking Pacific Bluefin Tuna
Two massive Pacific Bluefin Tuna have been caught off the coast of San Diego, setting significant fishing records.
Captain Ryan Stahl, fishing aboard the Game Changer, landed a 420-pound tuna, which breaks the previous California state record of 395 pounds, 6 ounces. The catch is attributed to warmer waters off Southern California caused by a ‘Super El Niño’ event.
In a separate incident, Markus Medak of Shearwater Fishing caught a tuna weighing 446 pounds after being gilled and gutted. This catch was described as the largest bluefin ever caught on a rod and reel. The fish was delivered to Tunaville Market and Grocery in Point Loma to be distributed to local restaurants.
