San Diego Muslim community marks five months since mosque shooting
The Muslim community in San Diego is marking nearly five months since a terrorist attack at the San Diego Islamic Center in the Clairemont Mesa area. The shooting, carried out by two teenagers who subsequently took their own lives, resulted in the deaths of Mansour Kaziha, Nadir Awad, and security guard Amin Abdullah.
Taha Hassane, director of the Islamic Center, stated that the community is still in a process of healing and remembering those who died protecting others.
As the community moves forward, the mosque is set to serve as a polling station for the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. In coordination with San Diego County Voter Registration officials, community leaders held a meeting at the center to encourage eligible residents to participate in the electoral process, including early voting, to influence local and national decision-making.
