San Diego Padres eye key free agent returns for 2027
The San Diego Padres are looking to reacquire key contributors following their 2026 season. Analysts suggest the team aims to bring back left-handed pitcher Adrian Morejon and first baseman Ty France.
Morejon, a 27-year-old reliever, recorded a 2.83 ERA with 107 strikeouts over 76 appearances this season. As a highly sought-after free agent, he could command a contract exceeding $100 million.
Ty France, who joined the team on a minor league deal, emerged as a consistent offensive and defensive presence. In 133 games, France hit .295 with 21 home runs and 72 RBIs. He is projected to seek a multi-year deal, with estimates suggesting a three-year, $49.3 million contract.
Additionally, the team's roster evaluation includes Miguel Andujar, who provided significant production despite missing time due to a hamstring strain and a wrist fracture. Andujar finished the season with a .318/.352/.470 slash line in 94 games.
