San Diego Padres move catcher Freddy Fermín to 7‑day concussion list

The San Diego Padres placed catcher Freddy Fermín on the seven‑day concussion injured list after he was struck in the head by a warm‑up pitch during a game against the Baltimore Orioles. The injury prompted manager Craig Stammen to note Fermín had suffered multiple head impacts this season. To fill the roster spot, the Padres selected catcher Blake Hunt from Triple‑A El Paso, and to clear a spot on the 40‑man roster right‑hander Ty Adcock was designated for assignment. Rodolfo Duran started behind the plate for San Diego in the series finale.

Fermín, 31, had been batting .148 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 51 games for the Padres, while Hunt, 27, was poised for his major‑league debut after a strong performance in the minors.
