San Diego Padres push trade talk for closer Mason Miller

The San Diego Padres have signaled that they are willing to consider trading All‑Star closer Mason Miller, but only if any interested team makes its entire roster available. As MLB insider Jeff Passan reported, the Padres told suitors, “if you want access to Mason Miller, then nobody is off limits in your organization.”

Miller, who posted a 0.82 ERA with 80 strikeouts over 43.2 innings this season, remains under team control for three more years and becomes a free agent after 2029. The New York Yankees have been the most frequently mentioned potential destination. The trade deadline is Aug. 3, and the Padres, sitting 1.5 games behind a National League wild‑card spot, could use a deal to improve their starting rotation. Miller was originally acquired last year from the Oakland Athletics for top prospect Leo De Vries and three other minor‑league players.
