San Diego Padres reliever Mason Miller bolsters bullpen following trade

The San Diego Padres' decision to trade for reliever Mason Miller has yielded significant results for the team's bullpen. Since joining the franchise from the Athletics, Miller has recorded a 1.04 ERA over 80 appearances, including 162 strikeouts in 86.2 innings.

To acquire the premier closer, Padres General Manager A. J. Preller traded away the organization's top positional prospect, Leo De Vries. However, the prospect faces a setback as he is scheduled for surgery this week to repair an anterior labrum tear in his right shoulder. The injury, sustained while sliding into a base, is expected to sideline the 19-year-old for approximately eight months.
