San Diego police arrest suspect after chase ends on Pacific Beach

A police pursuit ended on a California beach Sunday morning after a suspect drove a gold Nissan Frontier onto the sand near Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. The incident began around 7:21 a.m. when San Diego police attempted to stop the vehicle for allegedly performing donuts in the parking lot of Ocean Pacific Gym and Wellness.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the chase was unusually slow and erratic. Although officers deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle, the driver continued toward the coast. The pursuit concluded at approximately 8:46 a.m. when officers, supported by a K-9 unit, swarmed the vehicle in front of numerous sunbathers.

The shirtless suspect was taken into custody and faces a felony evasion charge. Authorities have not yet released the individual's name or age, nor have they confirmed if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
