San Diego State football prepares for first Pac-12 season

San Diego State University hosted a football media day at Snapdragon Stadium ahead of its debut in the Pac-12 Conference. Athletic Director John David Wicker emphasized the school’s ambition to compete for a conference championship, while head coach Sean Lewis highlighted the momentum from a nine‑win 2025 season and the recruiting boost of joining a Power Five league.

Analysts note that the Aztecs face several challenges as they enter the rebuilt Pac‑12. The defense must replace the 31 sacks recorded last season, with the departure of key edge players, and the offensive line loses its former All‑Mountain West trio. New targets include finding a sack leader and solidifying protection after several starters transferred or graduated.
