San Diego–Tijuana Binational Half Marathon runners face vehicle towing

Dozens of participants in the San Diego–Tijuana Binational Half Marathon faced significant frustration after discovering their vehicles had been towed following the 13.1-mile race. The event, which began in San Ysidro and crossed into Tijuana, concluded with many exhausted runners waiting in lines at the Western Towing impound yard to retrieve their cars.

Participants reported that they had followed parking instructions provided on the marathon’s official website. The site had stated that the Las Américas Premium Outlets would allow runners to park without the risk of being towed, offering peace of mind for those starting near the race area. Additionally, Baja-Mex Ped West Parking at 4575 Camino de la Plaza was listed as an official parking location offering a discounted $12 rate for those presenting their race bibs.

Runners expressed confusion and disappointment, noting that despite following official guidance, they returned to find their vehicles missing.
